Summer Crafting…Have Some Fun
With summer in full swing, there is no better time to take a break than right now. And, by “break” I mean do a craft project, of course! This girl on a budget found two perfect projects to tackle with items from the dollar store. Check out these super easy and fun things to make:
- Dollar Store Tie Dye: On the simple Analogy blog, Heather provides great instructions on creating tie dye shirts for under $5 each. Such a crafty idea. Check out how she does it; you’ll be surprised!

Craft projects are as much a part of summer as camping and apple pie. People find confidence in creating things. A sense of accomplishment does the body good. Tie Dye shirts are a great way to spend time with the “little loves” in your life, i.e. children, nieces, nephews, and cousins of a youthful age. The Pebble Mat makes a great gift. This idea can also be adapted and applied to photo frames and other cork display boards.
So…put on crafty hat, grab a tall glass of lemonade and make something fabulous. What crafts projects are you creating from dollar store items? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

Father’s Day Gift Ideas
With June underway, there’s still time for you to find the perfect gift for Dad. Great gift ideas can be found at the local dollar store. This Girl on a Budget plans to do something extra special for her father this year. This is the first Father’s Day I’ve spent with my dad [in person] in a long time. He deserves a lot more than I can show in just one day. However, I plan to make sure he understands just how much I appreciate him.
As my shopping efforts begin, I plan to visit the local dollar store for inspiration and more. During my recent search for gift ideas online, I found a helpful article by Marlene Alexander on her Dollar Store Style blog. Marlene provides simple suggestions for the special dad in your life.
