Dollar Store Party Décor and More
It’s the holiday weekend! Memorial Day is a time for relaxation, celebration and honoring those who have sacrificed for our country. This weekend also marks the “unofficial” start of summer. The warm weather is great inspiration for outdoor parties. This Girl on a Budget found a wealth of party planning materials on a recent trip to the dollar store.
Four Party Décor Items for Every Party
Party decorating can be a challenge and a pleasure. There are so many options available. However, I was able to find the following things to help set the ambiance for any Memorial Day party:
- Patriotic square-shaped party paper plates. Each pack for a dollar!
- Red, White, and Blue patriotic napkins.
- A Star-shaped platter that can serve anything from chips to fruit to dessert. Again, just ONE DOLLAR.
- A decorative weighted patriotic centerpiece that can be used to accent the table or to keep items secure on the table.
Have a Drink on Me
Another staple at holiday parties is the party punch! The right punch can be a great addition to an awesome party. Below is a recipe for The Girl on a Budget’s favorite party punch. It’s simple and delicious.
- 4 cups cranberry juice
- 1 bottle sparkling cider
- 1 liter ginger ale
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, about 2 lemons
- 1 orange, sliced
Directions
In a large bowl, over ice combine all of the liquid ingredients. Float the orange slices on top, for garnish and serve.
While the adults are enjoying their fun, keep the younger guests entertained with toys and activities. The dollar store has an assortment of Frisbees, toy cars, activity books and puzzles. There’s still time before the guests arrive. Visit your local dollar store for party decorations, storage items and entertainment options.
